Qualifications
BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy. MSST
Steve graduated from the University of Chichester with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Sport Therapy in 2016. During that time he completed work experience at Up and Running both in clinic and shadowing our therapist at pitch side events.
Steve joined Up and Running in September 2017 as one of our pitch side therapists; the role involved providing first aid to sporting events as part of our outreach programmes which included a variety of sports such as rugby, football, netball, hockey, lacrosse which are associated with Portsmouth Grammar School, St John's College, Portsmouth University, and the RFU.
Before Up and Running Steve worked for Portsmouth Football Club from 2016–2018 in various roles. Initially starting as a part time Sport therapist within the Academy Steve showcased his ability and within 4 months was promoted to Schoolboy Therapist which involved the overseeing of more than 100 children within the academy aged between 9-16, another 5 months after that Steve was again promoted to First Team Sports Therapist and began working with the first team in their first League One campaign for over 4 years, gaining vast knowledge from working with elite athletes has helped developed Steve's therapy knowledge.
After 3 years with Portsmouth FC Steve opted for a change and was offered the Head of Medicine role at Havant and Waterlooville FC as they looked for promotion back into the National League, in which they finished 2nd in the league and missed out on promotion via the play–offs. Steve then parted ways with Havant and Waterlooville FC to focus his attention on the clinic.
Steve himself is an avid sportsman and has competed in Football, Badminton, Cross country and was parting of a winning team in a National U19 Beach Rugby tournament in 2013. Because of Steve's involvement in Sport at an elite level he understands the impacts injuries can have on peoples lives and therefore wants to help everyone of all sporting abilities get back to their best.
