Emily: Graduate Sports Therapist
BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy. MSST
REPs Level 3 Personal Training.
Emily graduated from the University of Chichester with an upper class 2:1 BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy in 2020.
Emily has 3 years pitch–side experience at Up and Running. This initially started whilst Emily was on work placement with Up and Running and has continued since joining the team full–time since graduating. This includes covering sports such as rugby, football, lacrosse, netball and hockey which are associated with Portsmouth Grammar School, St. John's College and Portsmouth University.
Emily's sporting background is Artistic Gymnastics where she competed for Hampshire and the South Region at national competitions where she won numerous medals. This is where her passion for Sports Therapy began as she was exposed to injury and began to understand the importance of quick and efficient treatment required by athletes to return to competition as quickly as possible. Emily first visited Up and Running as a patient during her gymnastics career and was treated by Keith in 2010. This means she fully understands the role of both the patient & the therapist in a clinical environment.
Emily joined Havant & Waterlooville FC for the 2020/21 season, which was unfortunately cut short due to the Covid–19 pandemic. However, during this time Emily gained valuable experience of how a full time semi–professional football club operated as what is required as a sports therapists for athletes.
Emily has also gained her level 3 personal training qualification which is helpful for the rehabilitation and return to fitness of individuals. This allows her to incorporate her Sports Therapy and Personal Training experience into all her treatment sessions to help patients recover quickly and efficiently.
